The Latest from ISED
In the dynamic world of wireless technology, navigating regulatory requirements can feel like a high-stakes race. Every deadline matters, every standard is critical. ISED has extended a compliance deadline, specifically for the transition to the latest iteration of Radio Standards Specification RSS-247, Issue 5.
What This Extension Means for YOU
Originally, manufacturers of devices covered by RSS-247 (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other license-exempt digital transmission and frequency hopping systems) were facing a tight transition period. Devices certified under the previous standard, RSS-247 Issue 4, would have seen new certifications cease much sooner.
ISED has extended the transition period for RSS-247 Issue 5. This means new certifications under the older RSS-247 Issue 4 will now be accepted until August 31, 2024. After this date, all new certifications must comply with Issue 5. Devices certified under Issue 4 before this new deadline can continue to be manufactured, imported, distributed, and sold in Canada.
