AS/NZS 62368.1:2026 brings the latest IEC 62368-1 framework
Standards Australia has published AS/NZS 62368.1:2026 — Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment, Part 1: Safety requirements on 6 March 2026. The new edition adopts and modifies IEC 62368-1:2023 (Edition 4.0) for the Australia and New Zealand market.
The standard sets minimum safety requirements for the design, construction, and operation of electrical and electronic equipment in the fields of audio/video, information and communication technology, and business and office equipment. It also supersedes AS/NZS 62368.1:2022, making it the latest reference point for product safety assessment in this category.
Why this matters
For manufacturers, importers, and compliance teams, when a core safety standard is revised, product evaluations, technical documentation, and certification strategies may need to be reviewed against the new edition.
The scope of the 2026 edition remains centered on the equipment categories most commonly assessed under IEC 62368-1-based safety schemes.
A practical next step
Companies with active or upcoming projects should check which product lines still reference AS/NZS 62368.1:2022 and assess whether transition planning is needed. A focused review of existing test reports, CB documentation, construction data, and safety critical components can help identify any gaps early and reduce rework later.
