From 1 March 2027, Wi-Fi equipment using the 6 GHz band in Brazil must be limited to 5925–6425 MHz.

What has Brazil ANATEL changed for 6 GHz Wi-Fi?
Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) published Ato nº 10.400/2026, updating the technical requirements for restricted-radiation radiocommunication equipment.
The new requirements limit 6 GHz wireless local area network equipment to 5925–6425 MHz. The updated range applies to client equipment, very-low-power equipment, indoor access points and subordinate access points.
These equipment categories were previously permitted to operate across 5925–7125 MHz, meaning the spectrum available for Wi-Fi is reduced from 1200 MHz to 500 MHz.
When does the new 6 GHz limit become mandatory?
Ato nº 10.400/2026 entered into force when it was published in ANATEL’s Electronic Service Bulletin on 14 August 2026. However, ANATEL states that application of the new requirements becomes mandatory from 1 March 2027.
This transition period gives manufacturers and certification holders time to adapt affected products before operation above 6425 MHz is no longer permitted for these Wi-Fi applications in Brazil.
What happens to existing ANATEL-certified products?
Products with Technical Conformity Certificates valid beyond 1 March 2027 do not need immediate recertification solely because of this change.
According to the official Act, affected products must be brought into compliance with the updated requirements during their periodic certification maintenance.
For manufacturers, this means existing Brazil configurations should be reviewed before the next maintenance cycle, particularly where firmware or regulatory-domain settings currently allow 6 GHz operation above 6425 MHz.
Why is Brazil reducing the Wi-Fi allocation?
The change is part of Brazil’s broader plan for the upper 6 GHz band.
ANATEL is preparing 6425–7125 MHz for licensed mobile services, while the lower 5925–6425 MHz portion remains available for Wi-Fi. The authority has included licensing of the upper 6 GHz band for mobile services in its regulatory agenda.
ANATEL has also stated that the remaining lower 6 GHz allocation continues to support Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, including channels of up to 320 MHz. ANATEL’s 6 GHz spectrum explanation provides further background on the division between Wi-Fi and mobile use.
What should manufacturers check?
Manufacturers supplying Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 products to Brazil should review:
· whether the Brazil configuration enables frequencies above 6425 MHz;
· firmware, country code and regulatory-domain settings;
· test and certification documentation covering the 6 GHz band;
· the timing of the next ANATEL certification maintenance; and
· future Brazil product variants scheduled for launch from March 2027 onward.
Products intended for multiple markets may therefore require a Brazil-specific frequency configuration even if the same hardware supports the full 5925–7125 MHz range elsewhere.
