President Trump’s call: FCC unleash prosperity through deregulation

In response to President Trump’s call for all administrative agencies to unleash prosperity through deregulation—as outlined in executive orders—the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published Notice DA 25-219, inviting public comments on initiatives to roll back unnecessary rules.

In a move set to energize the ICT industry, the FCC has issued a call for public comments aimed at identifying and removing outdated and burdensome regulations. Aiming to bolster innovation, encourage competition, and accelerate the deployment of cutting-edge network infrastructure.

Key Areas for Consideration

The FCC invites stakeholders to weigh in on several key areas:

  • Cost-Benefit Analysis: Are certain FCC rules racking up more costs than they’re worth? If trimming or updating a rule could supercharge efficiency or competitiveness, the FCC wants to know.
  • Real-World Impact: Sometimes, what looks good on paper causes real headaches in practice—especially for smaller players. Feedback on overly complex or burdensome rules is especially encouraged.
  • Technological and Market Changes: New tech often makes old rules outdated. The FCC is looking for concrete examples where shifts in technology or markets justify a regulatory refresh.
  • Barriers to Entry: Rules that make it tough for smaller firms to compete or new ones to enter the game can be counterproductive. Pinpointing these helps promote a healthier, more dynamic market.
  • Broader Regulatory Context: If newer standards or industry practices have filled the gap a rule once addressed, that’s worth mentioning too.
