Chile SUBTEL Update: Mandatory QR Code Implementation

For ICT manufacturers targeting the Chilean market, the timeline for compliance Resolución N° 2219 Exenta is coming.

📅 Deadline: February 22, 2026

The new QR code labeling regime officially becomes mandatory on February 22, 2026.

  • Before this date: Manufacturers can prepare their packaging and digital infrastructure to align with the new standards.
  • On and after this date: All applicable Short Range Devices (SRDs) entering the Chilean market must bear the compliant QR code as defined by Resolutions 737 and 2219.

📉 What Changed?

Resolución N° 2219 introduces welcome flexibility regarding where the QR code can be placed, addressing previous concerns about limited space on small devices.

  1. Placement Options: If affixing the QR code directly to the product is not feasible (due to size or design constraints), it is now permissible to place the QR code on the outer packaging or included within the accompanying user manuals/documents.
  2. Medical Devices: Specific medical data acquisition devices operating in the 430-440 MHz band have seen immediate updates to their technical limits (E.I.R.P.) effective upon publication.

🔗 Digital Requirements: The Two Paths to Compliance

The resolution establishes two distinct compliance pathways depending on when your product was certified. This “Transitional Provision” is critical for managing your existing portfolio.

1. For Products Certified BEFORE February 22, 2026:

  • Simplified Requirement: You may use a QR code that links directly to the official SUBTEL Homologation Certificate (PDF).
  • Action: Ensure your existing inventory or products certified during this transition period have a functional QR code pointing to their specific certificate.

2. For Products Certified ON/AFTER February 22, 2026:

  • Full Requirement: The QR code must link to a dedicated, manufacturer-hosted webpage (in Spanish).
  • Mandatory Content: This webpage must clearly display:
    • Commercial Brand and Model.
    • Manufacturer and Local Importer details.
    • Technical Specifications (Frequency, Power, etc.).
    • A downloadable copy of the SUBTEL Certificate.
    • A downloadable Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
