MSIT Notice No. 2026-9 adds more detailed limits for 5925–6425 MHz and 6425–7125 MHz WLAN use
Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) published Notice No. 2026-9 on February 10, 2026. The notice took effect on the same day and partially amends the list of radio equipment that may be established without notification under Korea’s regulatory framework.
The key change sits in the 6 GHz table
For companies working with wireless access systems including WLAN, the most relevant update appears in the page 5 table of the notice. MSIT sets several operating conditions for the 5925–6425 MHz range, including one entry with a 25 W limit and two additional 1 W entries tied to specific use environments: devices used inside subway cars and devices used inside buildings. The same table also introduces a 500 mW limit for 6425–7125 MHz devices. In several of these entries, the notice explicitly states that antenna absolute gain is included in the limit condition.
This is a compliance change
The practical point is that Korea is no longer treating the 6 GHz range as one simple block in this part of the framework. The notice applies different conditions depending on the band segment and, in some cases, the intended operating environment. While the notice itself sets operating conditions rather than test methods, these parameters will directly shape RF evaluation, product configuration, and local approval strategy for 6 GHz devices.
What manufacturers should review now
Manufacturers, importers, and certification teams should check whether current or planned Korea-market devices operate in the affected 6 GHz ranges and whether their intended use matches the conditions reflected in the notice. This review should cover power settings, software configuration, declared use environment, and technical documentation. For multi-market platforms, early alignment is especially important, as 6 GHz conditions often differ by country and by band segment.
