EMC and RF Testing

EMC and RF Testing

Why EMC and RF testing?

All electronic devices emit electromagnetic fields and thus influence other devices when interconnected or are in close proximity. Just look around at home. TV, Mobile Phones, WiFi routers, electrical power lines, microwave oven may all disturb or be disturbed by each other if not properly designed for EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility).

Manufacturer is responsible for ensuring that a device is compliant with the EMC requirements set by authorities in different markets. In EU product must comply with the EMC Directive. The EMC Directive sets limits for both emissions (product does not disturb others) and immunity (product can stand interference coming from other devices). In US FCC sets limits only for emissions.

RF test checks if product’s radio transmitter and receiver work as specified. How much RF tests are to be done depends very much on how the product is implemented.

EMC and RF tests

Our accredited EMC and RF test services include:

Emission testing:

  • Conducted Emissions
  • Radiated Emissions

Immunity testing:

  • Radiated RF field
  • Radio frequency common mode
  • Burst, Surge, Electrical Fast Transients, Voltage dips and interruptions
  • Power and pulsed magnetic fields
  • ESD

RF testing:

  • Radiated spurious emission testing for e.g GSM, WCDMA, LTE, Bluetooth, WLAN

Pre-compliance EMC and RF testing

Selected EMC and RF tests during the R&D phase (Pre-Compliance tests) are very important to ensure your product quality and a smooth certification process.

We can offer Pre-Compliance EMC Testing services beyond our current accreditation scope for consumer, medical and industrial products. We are happy provide more detailed information and make a proposal how we can verify your product.
